Eight Lebanese banks among top 100 Arab Banks

 

The annual survey conducted by Al Iktissad Wal Aamal magazine of the top 100 Arab banks in 2005 shows that their total assets amounted to US$ 767 billion up by 20.5% from the aggregate assets in 2004 and total profits amounted to US$ 18.852 billion, rising by a significant 63.29% from 2004.

 

Eight Lebanese banks were among the top 100 Arab banks. In terms of assets:

 

1 – BLOM bank ranked first among Lebanese banks and 25th among Arab banks

      with total assets amounting to US$ 11.92 billion.

 

2 – Bank Audi, ranked second with US$11.48 billion, ranking 27th among Arab 

     banks.

 

3 – Byblos bank with US$7.526 billion, ranking 34th among Arab banks.

 

4 – Bank Med with US$ 5.87 billion, ranking 43rd among Arab banks

 

5 – Fransabank with US$4.953 billion, ranking 47th among Arab banks.

 

6 – Bank Beirut with US$ 4.314 billion, ranking 50th among Arab bank.

 

7 – Banque Libano-Francaise with US$ 3.723 billion, among Arab banks.

 

8 – Banque Credit Libanais with US$ 3.166 billion, ranking 59th among Arab

      banks.

 

Of the total top 100 Arab banks, Lebanese banks accounted for 6.9% of total assets.
